Although every effort is made to keep all system available for users,
occasionally it is necessary to schedule times when the system(s) will be
unavailable. During these times, new hardware and software is installed and
small problems fixed before they can become large problems.
Be sure to CHECK HERE for announcements of planned outages and other changes.
Occasionally, because of hardware or software failures, a system may be unavailable. In the event of unscheduled downtime, every effort will be made to correct the problem and restore the system in a timely fashion. Please patiently bear with us.
Students who wish to appear in the WMU E-mail directory may register their address here.
IMAP is a method of accessing electronic mail delivered to a remote computer designated as a "mail server". The mail server, which is presumed to be always up, stores the mail when received. A mail client program on your local computer accesses the remote messages as if they were present on the local computer. Examples of IMAP mail client software includes (but is not limited to) Pine (Pine supported on Unix, PC Windows, and VMS platforms at WMU), Siren, and Mail Drop.
POP is another mail client protocol. Incoming mail is stored on the mail server when received. However, POP downloads mail to the mail client when the client connects to the mail server. Eudora, Netscape, and Pegasus are examples of mail client software which supports POP.
WMU students may change their local address and phone number in University records here.
Residents of University Housing need not report changes of campus address.
Tip: An accurate address assures more timely delivery of mail and financial aid.
