IMAP is a method of accessing electronic mail delivered to a remote computer designated as a "mail server". The mail server, which is presumed to be always up, stores the mail when received. A mail client program on your local computer accesses the remote messages as if they were present on the local computer. Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Outlook, Pine (supported on Unix, and VMS platforms at WMU), Siren, and Mail Drop are examples of IMAP mail client software which supports IMAP.
POP is another mail client protocol. Incoming mail is stored on the mail server when received. However, POP downloads mail to the mail client when the client connects to the mail server. Eudora, Netscape, Microsoft Outlook and Pegasus are examples of mail client software which supports POP.
WMU students may change their local address and phone number in University records here.
Residents of University Housing need not report changes of campus address.
Tip: An accurate address assures more timely delivery of mail and financial aid.
